Packers Linebacker Rashan Gary Activated Off PUP List, Returns to Practice

Packers linebacker Rashan Gary is set to return to practice after being activated off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, according to Head Coach Matt LaFleur. However, Gary’s participation will be limited for now and he will not take part in 11-on-11 snaps.

LaFleur confirmed that Gary will be involved in individual drills and possibly some walk-through or jog-through exercises, but he will not be part of the team activities. This marks the first time Gary has practiced since suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in November of last year during a game against the Detroit Lions.

Before his injury, Gary had an impressive start to the 2022 season, recording 32 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, and six sacks in his first nine games. The Packers held a practice session on Monday before heading to Cincinnati for a joint practice with the Bengals. The two teams are scheduled to face off in their preseason opener on Friday.

In addition to Gary, rookie receiver Grant DuBose was also activated off the PUP list on Monday. This will be DuBose’s first practice since being drafted in the seventh round of the NFL Draft in April.

The only player remaining on the PUP list for the Packers is cornerback Eric Stokes, who is dealing with foot and knee injuries. It is unclear when Stokes will be able to return to practice.

The return of Gary and DuBose is a positive development for the Packers as they continue their preparations for the upcoming season. Both players will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for playing time as the team progresses through training camp and the preseason.

How will Rashan Gary’s limited participation in practice affect his progress in returning from his injury?

Packers linebacker Rashan Gary is making his long-awaited return to practice after being taken off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, according to Head Coach Matt LaFleur. However, Gary’s participation will be somewhat limited at first, as he won’t be taking part in 11-on-11 snaps.

LaFleur confirmed that Gary will be taking part in individual drills and may participate in some walk-through or jog-through exercises, but he won’t be fully involved in team activities just yet. This is a significant step for Gary, as it marks the first time he’s been able to practice since suffering a torn ACL in November of last year during a game against the Detroit Lions.

Prior to his injury, Gary had an impressive start to the 2022 season, racking up 32 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, and six sacks in just nine games. The Packers held a practice session on Monday before traveling to Cincinnati for a joint practice with the Bengals. The two teams will then meet in their preseason opener on Friday.

Alongside Gary, rookie receiver Grant DuBose was also activated off the PUP list on Monday. This will be DuBose’s first opportunity to practice since being selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft in April.

The only remaining player on the Packers’ PUP list is cornerback Eric Stokes, who is currently dealing with foot and knee injuries. It remains to be seen when Stokes will be able to return to practice.

The return of Gary and DuBose is certainly a positive development for the Packers as they continue to prepare for the upcoming season. Both players will now have the chance to showcase their skills and compete for playing time as the team progresses through training camp and the preseason.
