When Jonas Gahr Støre was to hand out a prize, he was criticized by the prize winner.
“P3 Gold” went off the rails on Saturday night. Invited were those of young artists who are played on the youth channel.
The music party was held in the old Deichman library in Oslo, and the confetti and stage effects were not spared.
During the award ceremony, Chris Holsten walked away with two awards, both “song of the year” and “artist of the year”. Both prizes were decided by those at home who voted for their favorite.
The “Newcomer of the Year” award was won by R&B artist Jonathan Floyd.
The last prize that was awarded was the honorary prize “P3 Prize”, and it was the hammering Stig Joar Hansen, formerly known as Young Ferrari, now with the artist name Stig Brenner – who could raise his head.
Stick to the Prime Minister
He received the award from Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor Party), who had lined up for the occasion.
Few, or almost none, have managed to portray desire, longing and existentialism under the Norwegian-language R&B umbrella so thoroughly and convincingly, Støre said.
When the award was presented and Stig Brenner had thanked those who were to be thanked, he took the opportunity to come up with a little trick in Støre’s direction.
– Thank you for giving me this award. Then I really hope that we can get a better and new drug reform for this country here, because we need it more than anything else, the artist concluded.
Støre seemed to take the drug reform comment with a smile, but the call was left unchallenged.
Struggle against drug reform
In February 2021, Erna Solberg’s government presented a proposal for a new drug reform, which among other things meant that the use and possession of small amounts of drugs should not be punishable.
The proposal did not get a majority in the Storting, where the Labor Party, the Center Party and the Progress Party voted against.
Støre himself has stated that he was against the new drug reform, and at the party’s national meeting in April, the matter was up for a vote. In his speech, Støre said the following:
– When drugs are banned, I think it should have a consequence to be in possession and acquire it. That is why I am against general decriminalization of drugs in our society, Støre said.
