The latter is especially important, because Henny De Baets is actually saying here that the decision not to allow OVAM to communicate was taken by the then Flemish Minister of the Environment. In 2017 it was Joke Schauvliege (CD&V). He has already said that she reserves her statements for the inquiry committee of the Flemish Parliament.
“The statement is very clear. As a result of this work, it is announced that a decision has been made that was communicated by the employees of the then minister,” explains lawyer Patrick Hofströssler to VRTNWS. “The way in which it functioned at the time with different actors, at different levels, after consultation, is indeed a statement that was made to OVAM.”
Lantis informs VRTNWS tonight that she has never received any request from the Flemish government to communicate about the dangers of PFOS.
