‘Outlander’ gets its eighth and final season | TV

TVGood and bad news for fans of ‘Outlander’. The popular romantic series will get an eighth season, but this will also be the last. That has television network ‘STARZ’ announced.

“Every good story has to come to an end,” says Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser on the series, in a ‘STARZ’ announcement video. “We end with a bang and tell the story exactly as it should be,” adds John Bell, aka Young Ian. The eighth season of ‘Outlander’ marks the end of an era. Although that is not immediately. The seventh season of the time traveler drama will premiere this summer. It is not yet known when the eighth and final season can be viewed.

Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a nurse who mysteriously disappears after World War II. She eventually ends up in Scotland, in the 18th century. There she falls in love with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a young man who protects her in the life-threatening world. In Belgium, the popular series can be viewed via Netflix.

Prequel

In August 2022, it was already announced that the story of ‘Outlander’ will live on in the prequel ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’. So the fans don’t have to say goodbye to the characters completely. The upcoming series will mainly focus on the love story of Jamie Fraser’s parents: Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. Matthew B. Roberts, the main series showrunner, is writing and directing the prequel. Maril Davis, Ronald D. Moore and Diana Gabaldon – who wrote the original “Outlander” books – are the consulting producers. It is not yet clear when ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ will be shown. A release date is not yet known.
