Outgoing State Secretary Wiersma wants to compensate for price increases

In the coming weeks, outgoing State Secretary for Social Affairs and Employment Dennis Wiersma will be in talks with municipalities to support people with a small wallet. “Because of rising inflation and the huge energy bill, we are going to make an extra pot. I want to have it finished by mid-December,” said the VVD minister in the television program WNL Op Zondag on NPO 1.

The outgoing Secretary of State was a guest on the television program to talk about rising inflation and high energy bills. “It’s a difficult time. Everything is becoming more expensive and many people wonder whether they can still afford the groceries. That is why we want to substantially help low-income earners so that they can continue to pay their bills.”

‘It won’t be about tens’

It is not yet clear what amount will be linked to this. “It won’t be about tens, that’s clear, but I can’t link an amount to it yet. Ultimately, the goal will be to offer people extra support from the municipalities through social assistance or special assistance.”
