Outbreak of bird flu in the United Kingdom causes the slaughter of 10,000 turkeys – O Jornal Económico

According to the veterinary director of the United Kingdom, Christine Middlemiss, cited by the agency France Presse, the outbreak was detected on Saturday and the authorities took “immediate measures” to prevent the spread.

The official explained that 10,500 turkeys will be slaughtered, and that a control area was created around the farm.

Several outbreaks of avian influenza have been detected over the course of this month in various regions of the United Kingdom.

This situation in Western Europe arises after outbreaks of this nature were also detected in Russia and Kazakhstan.

The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and Denmark have also been particularly affected by this virus, which is transmitted by migratory birds.

The disease is not considered dangerous for humans, which is why the consumption of meat from these animals is not advised.
