After the successful performance at the Hlinka Gretzka Cup with a historical position on the second place, another international event awaits the Slovak national hockey team under the age of 18.

From Thursday, he will present himself at the Olympic Hopes Tournament in Budapest with a weaker cast of paper, but also with a significantly changed roster. From the team that presented itself at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, there are only seven players on it.

The coach of the Slovak Republic “18” Ivan Feneš admitted that the nomination for the training camp in Piešťany and the subsequent tournament in Budapest was very difficult to be born. At the last minute, the coaching staff had to make several corrections in it for various reasons.

“Many players refused to participate in the national team camp because they want to fight for a place in the clubs, which I was not surprised by. Especially after the result of the ‘eighteen’ at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. I will tell the truth, the nomination is not entirely up to our expectations, “ said Feneš for hockeyslovakia.sk.

At the same time, he added that there is already a group of hockey players in the current player’s menthol, who are interested in continuing with the “eighteen” as part of the centralized training project.

He will start soon: “In the current staff, the basis of the set of the centralized training project. So at least 10 to 12 boys from it are interested in this trip that we offer. They want to improve on it, they want to use the conditions in Slovakia. We look forward to working with them. ”

The general for the seasonal operation of the project will be the Tournament of Olympic Hopes in Budapest, which the Slovak representatives under 18 under the leadership of the current coaching staff have clearly won.

This year, they will compete with their peers from Italy, Poland and domestic Hungary. “Every international confrontation is welcome. The one in Budapest may seem to be at a slightly weaker level, but it should not be underestimated. We have to prepare well and go win the tournament, “ added Feneš for the website of the Slovak Ice Hockey Association (SZĽH).
