In an official statement from the FA on Thursday (17/11/2022) to WIB morning, Toney was allegedly involved in a gambling case before playing for Brentford.
Toney is known as a nerd as he was loaned out to several clubs after being bought by Newcastle United in 2015, such as Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, Wigan Athletic and Scunthorpe United, before joining Brenftord in 2020.
It was at these clubs that Toney was said to have broken FA rule number E8 on gambling 232 times, between 2017 and 2021. At the time Toney was considered a gambler for his club’s opponents.
Toney himself has until November 24 to respond to the FA’s charge. Meanwhile Brentford will follow the investigative process and continue to communicate intensively with Toney.
They don’t want to say much until there’s a firm sentence for Toney, whether it’s a fine or a suspension.
“Brentford have informed Ivan Toney that he has been accused of breaching the FA’s E8 rule,” read the statement from the club, nicknamed “the bee”.
“The club have spoken to Ivan and his legal representatives regarding this matter and the talks will be confidential. We will not comment on anything until the matter has been resolved.
Ivan Tony called co-operative and gave the best possible statement to the FA refuting the allegations. Toney was like falling down the stairs due to the FA charge.
The 26-year-old forward may still be disappointed after failing to make the England national team a World Cup 2022with 23 goals in 2022 in the league.
