Oostende –
The Ostend city council will still continue completely digitally. Acting mayor Kurt Claeys (Open Vld) reports this. The decision comes after Vlaams Belang protested against a city council where all councilors had to be able to present a vaccination certificate.

“The question was put to the various groups, but it turned out that not everyone agreed with the conditions. That is why the city council chairman has decided to organize the city council completely digitally. It is therefore not the case that those who present a vaccination certificate can still physically follow. Everything is now done digitally,” says Claeys.

In order to ensure that the Ostend municipal council proceeds safely, council chairman Wouter De Vriendt wanted those present to present a vaccination pass. “That was so recommended by the city’s security cell,” says acting mayor Kurt Claeys. This met with resistance from Vlaams Belang Oostende. “In this way, the medical secrecy is violated. Councilors are literally being discriminated against and pressured to get vaccinated while there is still no mandatory vaccination,” the statement said.
