The day before, on April 5, in the Russian city of Orsk, Orenburg region, a soil dam on the Ural River broke. Thousands of houses were caught in the flood zone, several thousand local residents had to be evacuated, writes Medusa.

According to Russian media, more than 4 thousand houses and more than 10 thousand residents were in the flood zone. Directly in the city of Orsk, water flooded almost 2.5 thousand houses. About 4 thousand residents were evacuated from there.

On the morning of April 6, the first reports of deaths appeared. By data Telegram channel “112”, three people died when the dam broke. Baza writes about at least two dead. Rescuers are checking information about the third victim. According to Russian propagandists from TASS and RIA Novosti, two bodies were found in the Old Town in Orsk – however, preliminary, the deaths of these people are not related to drowning.

As of the morning of April 6, as writes Telegram channel Shot, the water level in the Ural River has reached 9.27 m against the norm of 7 m. In Orsk, the water level is critical. Half of the Old Town district there is flooded. According to Russian public information, there is a threat of complete isolation of the microdistrict. There is no connection or internet there anymore. At the same time, Meduza writes that the entrances to this area of ​​​​Orsk are blocked – you can only get there by boat or special transport.

The head of Orsk, Vasily Kazulitsa, said that the water level will not decrease in the coming days; it may take one and a half to two weeks.

In addition, the embankment of Orenburg, which is located 270 km from Orsk, was under water overnight. Local authorities called on residents of areas threatened by flooding to evacuate.

Also, according to Russian media, the water level is rising in the Sorochinsky reservoir, located in the same Orenburg region. Because of this, settlements located on the Samara River are also at risk of flooding.

And although now, according to Ukrhydroenergo, there is no threat of a dam breakthrough, HPP-2 is in critical condition and it is unknown whether it will be possible to restore it. According to director Igor Sirota, the Russians hit the support and crane beams. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, eight missiles hit the Dnieper hydroelectric station.
