Oppo presents fast charging technology with 150 watts

Under the “SuperVOOC” label, Oppo has long been promising enormous charging speeds. With 150 watts, full charging will soon only take a quarter of an hour.

the essentials in brief

  • Oppo has a lot to present at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year.
  • This includes the new SuperVOOC technology with a whopping 150 watts of power.
  • A conventional smartphone should be fully charged in around 15 minutes.

Anyone who has used an Oppo smartphone in recent years should already be familiar with SuperVOOC. The charging technology of the BBK subsidiary has been delivering impressive performance for some time now. However, the way the company is now presenting at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is far from finished.

Oppo combines speed and durability

A smartphone will soon be fueled with a total of 150 watts, as will be presented at the show. SuperVOOC together with the specially developed “Battery Health Engine” should ensure enormous speeds. A device can be charged from 1 to 50 percent battery capacity in just five minutes. Only 15 minutes are required for a full charge with today’s average 4500 mAh battery.

For comparison: With the upcoming Oppo Find X5 Pro, the manufacturer promises “only” 50 percent charging with 80 watts in 12 minutes. In addition, the battery should not only be full faster, but also last longer. Thanks to the built-in “BHE”, the built-in battery should still have over 80 percent of the original capacity after 1600 cycles.

It shouldn’t even be long before fans can test the new SuperVOOC themselves. A new smartphone from the subsidiary OnePlus with 150 watts is expected to go on sale later this year. More details about the device are not yet known.

Record hunt soon with 240 watts

But Oppo doesn’t stop there. The next generation of SuperVOOC, which is supposed to overshadow everything, was also teased at the MWC. With a full 240 watts, the same full charge will soon take just under nine minutes.

Thus, the Chinese manufacturer would even trump Xiaomi’s charging concept with 200 watts. However, this technology is currently still in the works and will probably require some further development.
