Oppo Launches Next Generation Periscope Camera

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Oppo announced its next-generation periscope camera, although only the modules for now. That means the first phones to use them are not around for a long time.

This module has a 7 element lens and is able to adjust its focal length from 85mm to 135mm (35mm equivalent). The aperture starts at f / 3.3 and ends at f / 4.4 at maximum zoom.

The new 16-bit high-precision driver IC accurately drives two lens groups for zoom as well as autofocus and optical image stabilization.

It’s not just a new lens, Oppo has also been working on the sensor and image processing algorithm. The “large” (dimensionless) sensor has 32MP resolution and a Quad Bayer filter. Using image stacking, this camera is capable of hybrid zooming up to 280mm.

Assuming a 26mm wide lens on the main camera, this module offers optical zoom from 3.3x to 5.2x, then hybrid zoom takes it up to below 11x magnification.

The suspected successor to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom appeared at TENAA last month with a major focus on the improved periscope. The phone sports a 6.5-inch 90Hz AMOLED display, 5G connectivity and a 3,945mAh battery.

Talking about its new device, Oppo is also working on 125W charging technology, which will be embedded for future flagships.
