Oppo dominates the smartphone market in Indonesia, beats Xiaomi and Vivo

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – A technology manufacturer from China, namely Oppo become the ruler of smartphones in Indonesia in 2021, with a market share of 20.4 percent.

This data is according to the International Data Corporation or IDC research institute quoted Thursday (24/3/2022). Oppo become the first order for the mobile phone market in Indonesia.

Oppo is in first place with a market share of 20.4 percent and is followed by Xiaomi with 19.8 percent, Vivo 18.1 percent, Samsung 17.6 percent, Realme 12.2 percent and other brands 11.5 percent.

In 2021 Oppo managed to beat Vivo which became the champion in 2020 by shipping 8.5 million units of mobile phones.

Success Oppo thanks to its strategy of flooding the low-cost mobile segment. In fact, this brand controlled 28 percent of the cheap mobile phone market in Indonesia last year.

Weakness Oppo lies in 5G phones. Number of 5G devices Oppo less in Indonesia during 2021 compared to the other five big brands.

Then Xiaomi, which is in second place, will be the fastest technology producer in 2021. This brand shipped 8.1 million units of mobile phones to Indonesia last year.

This growth was supported by the expansion of the offline sales network and increased shipments of the Poco subbrand brand.

Redmi 9 is the biggest contributor Xiaomi in 2021. In addition, the penetration of mobile phones in the middle segment is also considered successful through the Redmi Note 10 and Poco X3.

Meanwhile Vivo had to settle for 3rd place with the delivery of 7.4 million cell phones to Indonesia in 2021. Model Vivo The Y12s and Y20 are the most sought after. This vendor is also strong in the low-cost mobile segment.

Next is Samsung, which will ship 7.2 million units of mobile phones in 2021. Last year’s flagship Samsung was the Galaxy A model, with the Galaxy A52s being targeted by the middle class segment.
