An upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will get a very special processor. A Snapdragon processor that does not yet exist, to be precise.
Xiaomi is preparing for the release of the upcoming Redmi K30 5G Speed Edition, the updated version of this Redmi. Chinese retailer JD will offer the upcoming device from May 11. The Speed Edition, on the other hand, is so “fast” that it gets a processor that is not yet out. In fact, technically, the Snapdragon 768G doesn’t even exist.
Xiaomi Redmi K30 with “Snapdragon 768G” processor
The Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G Speed Edition would come next seller JD with a Snapdragon 768G, like this spot XDA-Developers. The fastest and highest numbered Snapdragon in the 7 series, on the other hand, is the Snapdragon 765G as we see it in the OnePlus Z would find.
Now the first thought is of course “ah, typo, can happen”. But if you do the sales page in the official JD app on a smartphone, you will find twice a reference to the Snapdragon 768G.
Doesn’t sound crazy
Assuming this isn’t a double typo, Xiaomi (or JD) accidentally unveiled a new Snapdragon. And the Snapdragon 768G does not sound very good. The redesigned Redmi K30 is a small upgrade and so could the 768G compared to the 765G. The same applies, for example, to the Snapdrago 710 and 712.
The Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G Speed Edition with the special processor would be released on May 11. Then we will know for sure whether this is an accidental disclosure, or just an unfortunate typo.
