Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russia has reportedly fired S-300 missiles at Israeli fighter jets. This incident occurred when the fighter jet struck a target in the northwestern region of Syria.
Collect Times of Israel, Defense Secretary Benny Gantz said the incident occurred on May 13. He said at that time the S-300 failed to lock the Tel Aviv jet as a target.
“It was a one-off incident. I think the situation is stable now,” Gantz said at a conference organized by Channel 13 on Tuesday, (26/7/2022).

“Our jets are not even in the area,” he added, explaining that the Israeli jet had left the area while Russia was trying to lock it down.
Since the Syrian S-300 batteries are operated by the Russian military and cannot be fired without their consent, this incident is seen as something of concern for Israel.
The reason is, the Jewish State has carried out hundreds of air strikes in Syria to target arms shipments headed for the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group.
On the other hand, Russia has a strong presence in Syria, the country led by President Vladimir Putin took a stand to support the government of President Bashar Al-Assad during the Syrian conflict.
Meanwhile, this report itself comes at a time when relations between Israel and Russia are hot. This is due to Russia’s move to close the Jewish Agency in its sovereignty. Moscow switched agencies to promote migration to Israel which has attracted the interest of the Jews in Russia.
Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Yair Lapid said the closure of the Jewish Agency in Russia would have a negative impact on relations between the two countries.
Lapid has also tasked Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs with drawing up specific actions the Jewish state could take if Russia goes ahead with its plans to shut down the organization’s operations.
