With an investment of 90 million pesos, the construction project of the Faculty of Nursing and Medicine of the Autonomous University of Durango, in Monclova, which will have capacity for 700 students, is launched. The building will be built north of the city next to the UTRC.
The mayor Alfredo Paredes López, reported that it will be after August 20 when Governor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solis, arrives in this city to lay the first stone, with which they will begin construction that should be completed in the following seven months after laying the first stone, which should be in March or April 2021.
The municipality recognized the support from the State Government, so that this project could crystallize in Monclova, he added that weeks before the Coronavirus would arrive in Monclova, he had met with the directors of the Autonomous University of Durango, led by Dr Martín Gerardo Soriano Sariñana, who was accompanied by his team, to begin to define the construction plans, as well as locate the point where the two buildings would be built, which would make up the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing.
Paredes López, pointed out that this faculty will have first-class laboratories, the nursing one, and that this will undoubtedly be a hotbed of doctors and nurses who will be ready to attend to any contingency that arises, such as the one we are now experiencing due to Covid 19 .
For the time being, the mayor said, work has already started on cleaning the property, where the two buildings will be built, as well as a sports field, trees and roads.
