Kannur:The D-1 coach of Executive Express was on Korapuzha when the fire broke out. Passengers say that when the train slowed down, some jumped out. It is suspected that she jumped into the river in a drunken state.

The moving car caught fire in the wind. The seat and passenger’s clothes were burnt. In the meantime, the passengers said that some people in the coach went missing.

Prince, Senior Section Engineer, Koyilandi Traction Distribution, was the first to report the fire in the train to the railway control room. He and his wife who were in the coach were burnt. The information about the fire that broke out following the severe collapse was reported as unclear. Prince and his wife were coming from Thrissur to Koilandi.

Panicked passengers pulled the chains of four coaches and loco pilot M.P. Muralidharan, Asst. Loco Pilot A.T. Sandhya, Guard Suma etc controlled the train affairs.

As soon as it reached Kannur at 11.45 pm, the D-1 coach was sealed by the railway security forces.

This train runs intercity from Kannur to Ernakulam on Monday afternoon. .
