Honda showed the first teaser of the next-generation mid-size Acura TLX sedan, and immediately in the “charged” top version of Type S. The company will revive this modification after eleven years of oblivion – the last such Acura left the assembly line in 2009. But now the “eski” will return with new forces: the Acura TLX Type S sedan will be the first model with a V6 3.0 turbo engine. Its power has not yet been named, but it is expected that it will approach 400 hp.
In addition, the SH-AWD nameplate is visible on the teaser – this designation traditionally hides an all-wheel drive transmission with individual rear wheel drive couplings. Another Acura TLX Type S sports four exhaust pipes, a diffuser in the bumper and a spoiler on the trunk lid. And the developers promise that we are waiting for the fastest and sports sedan in the history of the brand.
Of course, the new generation TLX will also have “civilian” versions – with four-cylinder engines, front-wheel drive and a “calm” appearance. Which was lit up last summer in the bowels of the Akurov media system. The premiere of the new model will take place on May 28.
Acura RLX
By the way, the new generation TLX model will become the largest and most expensive sedan of the brand, because the days of the flagship Acura RLX model are numbered. Sales in the United States fell to a very indecent mark (1019 cars last year), so the production of this sedan will be discontinued in the summer, and the development of the heir is not even planned. However, the model will still live for some time in the Japanese market, where it is sold under the name Honda Legend.
