Lionel Messi and Barcelona have disagreed over contract issues.

It started with Messi’s move to unilaterally terminate his contract by activating a special clause on August 25.

This special clause allows Messi to leave freely even though his contract includes a release fee of 700 million euros (around Rp 12.2 trillion).

On the other hand, Barcelona said that Messi could not make a unilateral decision because he was still under contract until 2021.

As for the matter of a special clause, Barcelona considered it forfeited because Messi only submitted it in August.

Barca insists the validity period of Messi’s special clause has ended in June according to the initial schedule for the 2019-2020 season before the corona virus pandemic.
