Former President of the Republic László Sólyom, the first president of the Constitutional Court, academician and university professor will be laid to rest according to Roman Catholic rites in the Fiumei út cemetery on Wednesday, October 18 at 12:00 p.m., the National Heritage Institute informed MTI on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, the Mass offered for the deceased will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the Jesuit Church of the Heart of Jesus.
“The family requests that no condolences be given at both the Mass and the funeral. The mass is not open to the press”, they wrote, adding that “due to the expected large number of those who will be euthanized, they ask the mourners to arrive on time and, if possible, help with the funeral preparations by indicating their intention to attend in advance by electronic mail address”.
The National Heritage Institute also asks both commemorators and representatives of the press to respect the family’s request that no photos, videos, or audio recordings of the relatives can be taken during the ceremony.
László Sólyom died on October 8, 2023 after a long illness.
