1240 Covid-19 tests were performed in Latvia last day, revealing one new case of the disease, as well as one patient was hospitalized, according to the information compiled by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).
The information available to the SPKC shows that the patient has returned from abroad.
The only infected person registered last day lives in Mārupe municipality and is aged between 60 and 69 years. Thus, Mārupe municipality also returns to the statistics of Civid-19 patients. In total, the infected currently live in 25 Latvian municipalities.
The SPKC urges residents not to receive guests or friends who have recently returned from abroad.
To date, 189,725 Covid-19 examinations have been performed in the country, and 1,206 individuals have been diagnosed with the disease. 1,045 people with Covid-19 have recovered.
In Latvia, 31 persons infected with Covid-19 died or 2.6% of the registered infected persons.
The SPKC reported that one patient with Covid-19 had been hospitalized in the last 24 hours. There are currently three inpatients. All patients have a moderate course of the disease.
To date, 189 patients have been discharged from the hospital, including both those who have recovered and those who have died.
After the Covid-19 outbreak, which was registered two weeks ago, there was a lower prevalence of the disease in Latvia last week. In the week of July 6, 47 new cases of the disease were registered in Latvia, while last week the disease was detected in 18 people.
In recent months, Latvia has eased restrictions on Covid-19, but due to outbreaks, the government had decided for the first time to reintroduce minor restrictions on public catering, or “tighten the screws”.
