OMT advice: Celebrate Christmas and New Year with a maximum of six guests from your own region | Instagram

The Outbreak Management Team (OMT) thinks that people should celebrate the holidays in a homely circle, limiting the number of guests per day to, say, six. The experts also prefer to have people come together only regionally. That is stated in the latest government advice published last night.

According to the OMT, it can never be said too much that the corona rules must be observed, and in particular with the frail and elderly. Additional measures can also be recommended during a planned visit to the elderly / frail.

For example, it is an option to force people to limit themselves in terms of visits and contacts with others in the ten days prior to the holidays and the planned visit. This will reduce the risks towards vulnerable people later on as much as possible.

Risk

“The OMT wants to emphasize that relaxing measures around the holidays entails a risk of new infections. “The more people come together, the higher the risk of transmission and resurgence of the epidemic. A decision on whether or not to phase out measures temporarily during the holidays therefore remains a political consideration. “

The risk of easing should be explicitly mentioned by Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge, is the advice that was issued to the cabinet last Monday and published last night. Of course, even during the holidays, you will stay at home in case of complaints, in that case you will not receive visitors and have yourself tested for corona.

The cabinet has not yet taken a decision on the measures for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. That will happen and will be announced on December 8, Rutte and De Jonge said yesterday evening.
