According to others, it was like an honor that Messi was allowed to wear a bisht, as it is called. Because in the Arab world that garment has been worn on special occasions for thousands of years.
An Omani lawyer is now offering $1 million for the bisht worn by Messi.
“I was at the stadium and I saw the Emir of Qatar give the bisht to Messi,” said Ahmed al-Barwani, a lawyer and member of parliament from Oman. “That was a special moment.”
“I offer you, Lionel Messi, 1 million dollars for the bisht,” al-Barwani addresses the Argentine superstar.
The lawyer does not intend to wear the robe himself. “I’d like to show him off so we can relive that moment of pride. He’ll keep reminding us that we can achieve anything.”
