Olympus Talks about the Continuation of the Camera Business in Indonesia

Jakarta

Some time ago news emerged about the signing of the Olympus imaging business divestment to the Japan Industrial Partner (JIP). Olympus Indonesia also spoke up about this news.

He said the divestment was a strategic step because the company’s structure would be smaller and more efficient, and also make it more agile in maneuvering to achieve sustainable business growth.

“This divestment is very strategic and positive for the Olympus camera business in Indonesia, of course it is very influential to sharpen the focus of Olympus’ position on Highend level cameras,” Sandy Chandra, Olympus OCCI’s Marketing & Sales Manager said in a statement received by detikINET.

With the market changes in the photography business which is very significant and fast, Olympus improvise cost structures by fundamentally structuring manufacturing by focusing on camera systems with high value mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.

JIP itself is an Investment Fund with a track of success in maximizing the growth of many product brands. JIP will use technological innovation and the strength of the Olympus brand position in the market to increase profits from Olympus Imaging Business.

Sandy also said that in the near future Olympus will release a new camera in Indonesia, which shows their seriousness in working on the mirrorless camera market in Indonesia.

“So with the business divestment, we believe Olympus will be more aggressive and penetrate the market for global and Indonesian market share,” Sandy concluded.

Olympus started producing and selling cameras with Zuiko lenses since 1936. Over time, they began to have interesting and innovative products, such as Pen series cameras, OM-D, and others.

In March 2020, Olympus also recently released the E-M1 Mark III which features a 5 axis image stabilizer with a tiny body. When combined with a stabilizer on the lens, this IS system can compensate vibrations up to 7.5 stops.
