14 of 30 rounds are played in Ettan Södra.
Bottom-tipped Olympic is third and 3-1 at home against the series’ second successful newcomer IK Oddevold was no fruit from the harvests of chance.
It did not even take 20 minutes.
Then it was 2-0 on the scoreboard at Lindängen’s IP. At that stage, there are few, if any, Ettan teams that are good enough to turn the tables.
The Uddevalla team made an attempt, got a reduction in the riot, but this was the Olympics match.
Irfan Jasarevic opened the scoring. A post was dropped into goal by Oddevold’s goalkeeper Oscar Ekman – fortunately, and only a minute after Oddevold had a ball at the top of the crossbar
Then there was this with Filip Bohman.
Olympic goal scorers delivered another match. And it was after a scenario that all position trainers dream of wet dreams.
Olympic played round and round. Tried to the right – played home. Tried left – played home. Tried centrally – played home. Then a quick insert to the spearhead who took advantage of the fact that patience began to take its toll on the ball-chasing guests. After a won counterattack with the goalkeeper, he was able to roll in 2-0.
Sunny hands meant Oddevoldsspelarena, who took the opportunity to saw the referee live for a situation that could not even be judged clockwise with replays from the above perspective.
Oddevold created some drama through a reduction with seven minutes left, but in stoppage time Filip Bohan turned the knife with the season’s 15th goal – in 14 games.
A nice reception in midfield, where he passed to himself – and free with the goalkeeper rolled in 3-1 at the far post.
Mesut Meral commented on the triumph:
– We got two early goals from nowhere really. Results control the idea and we went on the defensive far too soon. The first half would actually have ended 0-0…
– Oddevold is a good team and we were prepared to remove their trio at the top, but we played on the result early and then it became a special match picture. We showed once again that we are very difficult to beat.
Olympic is now taking a summer break – and will then face second-placed Ljungskile away on 31 July.
Whether Filip Bohman plays in the Olympic then remains to be seen.
A Superettanlag in Söderslätt has registered its interest.
