Olven Romulus (HBCL/N2): “I’m in my place”

Romulus weeping arrived in Gironde and Libourne during this off-season. Portrait of the HBCL winger before a trip to Limoges.

During the summer break, HBCL recruited right wing Olvens Romulus. The latter came from Rossiy, where he played in the National 2. Originally from Guadeloupe, where he started playing for ASC Le Geldar de Kourou, he joined Metropolis in the Paris region before having wishes elsewhere with his wife . This is why he asked for his transfer as head of the department of large-scale distribution in the Bordeaux region. A choice that is not accidental: We wanted to see something else. We holidayed here as we really like the setting “, he specifies.

There was no question for him to stop handball either. So while working on his pro project, he also did some monitoring to see which clubs could welcome him to Gironde: “I was looking for a club like the one I knew when I arrived in France. Roissy was a family club, with dedicated volunteers and friendly players. So I was looking for a club with the same mentality. I chose Libourne despite being relegated to the National 3. A choice that seemed obvious to me because there is a family atmosphere».

He then contacted the club, via Instagram. After taking information, Romain Cazemajou integrates him into his group. Olvens Romulus is grateful because”last season, the stats weren’t necessarily good because we were playing maintenance in N2 with Roissy.”

In any case, Olvens Romulus does not regret his choice, far from it.“I wasn’t wrong,” he says. I was immediately welcomed and I immediately felt integrated into the group. There are great guys. We get along obviously and off the pitch. The group is quite close, and it quickly was. I’m in my place, as if I’ve been there for a long time.”

And besides that, the sports results are good, thus facilitating the work: “There is healthy competition between us. We work a lot in training and see the results.”The only small disappointment remains the defeat against Bruges, during the Girondin derby. A match that the Libournais did not grasp from the extreme right, having taken over the stakes, then it was important to recover in the reception phase of the Stade Hendayais. “It was our first defeat as a group, says Olvens Romulus. The following week was important. We had to be able to get up. This happened because our coach accompanied us and against Hendaye we came out with a different face.”

Other face and also a good 32-23 victory. To achieve this goal, Olvens Romulus specifies that the HBCL has implemented its defensive arrangements: “we followed the coach’s advice perfectly. Everything came from the defense which recovered many balls. All that was left to do was explain the attack and with our warm audience, that helped a lot. We played the game of the best defense in the group. We put all we needed into intensity from the start which took our opponent by surprise. In doing so, there are no teams that will manage to win in Kany ”.

It remains to remain in this dynamic from Saturday 19 November with an away match in Limoges. A team that speaks little to the neo-Libournais, who has also discovered a different hand with his arrival in the Gironde: “I don’t know the teams. There is a different style of play than what I experienced in the Paris region. I also had trouble adjusting every weekend that I found out. There is more physical impact in Paris. Now things are better but in any case we approach the away match in Limoges with full confidence while continuing to correct our difficult starts.”
