Olomouc has three coronavirus infections, Saturday’s duel is in jeopardy

Testing for coronavirus before the opening match of the new first league season revealed three infected people in Olomouc. Sigma’s spokeswoman Alice Zbraňková told ČTK. The Haná club is waiting for the next steps of the regional hygienic station, its Saturday’s home match of the 1st round of the highest competition with Liberec is in danger.

Two members of the implementation team and one player had a positive test. “We are in close cooperation with the regional hygiene station. We are waiting for its further comments and recommendations, and further steps will be taken accordingly,” said Zbraňková.

Before today’s match with Opava, two cases of covid-19 appeared in Pilsen, where a player and a member of a wider implementation team became infected. According to the results of the morning check-ups, it will be decided whether the West Bohemians will be able to start the match for the opening duel of the season from 18:00. If the tests are negative, the match in Pilsen will be played, as the quarantine measures have eased on Monday.

Until the beginning of this week, in the case of a positive test on one of the players, the entire team had to be quarantined for two weeks. After the meeting of the Government Council for Health Risks, the representatives of sports should now aim for isolation only if the other members of the team are negative.

Before the start of the season, the coronavirus also appeared in the master Slavia. Due to one positive case, the Red and Whites had to leave the concentration camp in Austria early at the beginning of last week and were in solitary confinement for several days. However, the next two waves of control tests had a negative effect on Prague residents, except for those infected. If they also go through Saturday’s pick-ups, they will be able to start the opening round in České Budějovice on Sunday.
