Old ugly towels will be beautiful and soft again. Try a best practice

Have you fallen in love with a towel or bath towel that has already reached the peak of its useful life? In the beginning, they were soft and delicate, but over time they lost not only this characteristic, but also their color. After several washes, they started to harden and their touch is not what it used to be. It might seem that fabric softener is the solution, but it damages the fiber in the long term and is therefore not ideal for towels either. Try a few proven tricks.

Care begins immediately after purchase

If you want to keep your towels beautiful, it’s a good idea to start taking care of them right after you buy them. Wash them in two cycles in warm water. First, add 200 ml of white wine vinegar to the usual amount of powder used. This allows you to get rid of possible impurities from production and at the same time disinfects the towels beautifully. During the second wash, use 100 g of baking soda instead of washing powder. Thanks to this, the towels will remain soft for a long time and will not absorb unpleasant odors

Soda and vinegar

These two are some of the most popular home remedies that you can use in your home for laundry, cleaning or washing. If you have a liter of white wine vinegar and half a kilogram of baking soda at home, there is no need for other unnecessary chemicals. Always add one tablespoon of vinegar and one tablespoon of baking soda to the washing machine to keep towels consistently clean. Lemon juice, which you can substitute fabric softener for, will also do a great job.

Get rid of bad habits

If you use a lot of washing powder, your laundry can be unnecessarily hard. This happens because its residues remain in the fibers and their amount increases over time. To prevent this hardness, reduce the amount of powder. It is also advisable to observe the possible washing temperature. Do not exceed it, but do not wash in too cold water either. At the same time, avoid using chemical fabric softeners. Despite the information from the manufacturers, they are not beneficial for your laundry. During their use, the fibers are damaged and your towels or bed linen will be destroyed more quickly. Don’t be afraid to replace it with white wine vinegar and adding a few drops of a pleasant-smelling essential oil.

Make drying easier

If you prefer to dry your laundry in the dryer, throw three tennis balls into the drum. They will serve the same purpose as specially purchased balls. Their use softens the fiber. Thanks to them, the laundry will be much fluffier. It is also good not to exceed the drying time. Repeated or excessively long cycles will cause overdrying and subsequent hardening of the fabric.
