Officially Increases Per Today, Check Out the Price List of Cigarettes Per Stick and Per Pack in 2022

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Official cigarette prices increase as of today, Saturday (1/1/2022). Ascension cigarette price in Indonesia applies after the government through Ministry of Finance set rules related to this matter as of December 17, 2021.

Ascension-related rules cigarette price contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 192/PMK.010/21 concerning Excise Tariffs for Tobacco Products in the Form of Cigarettes, Cigars, Leaf Cigarettes or Klobot, and Tobacco Slices.

This rule is effective from December 20 last.

Quoted from Kontan, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati explained, the average increase cigarette tax rates is 12 percent. However, this amount is lower than the previous year which was 12.5 percent.

“This is a new excise duty that will take effect from January. The President has asked us to finish it immediately so that we can continue to run it as of January 1,” Sri Mulyani said in her statement as quoted on Saturday (1/1/2022).

The former Managing Director of the World Bank said, the increase in cigarette tax rates at least consider four aspects, starting from reducing cigarette consumption, paying attention to workers in cigarette factories, to the spread of illegal cigarettes.

He hopes that the increase in excise tax will be able to achieve the target of reducing the prevalence of smokers in children aged 10-18 years to 8.83 percent from the 8.7 percent target in the RPJMN in 2024.

The increase in cigarette excise tax next year will contribute to lower cigarette production by 3 percent from 320.1 billion sticks to 310.4 billion cigarettes.

The price index for cigarettes has also increased to 13.77 percent from 12.7 percent, with a target of state budget revenues from cigarette excise to reach Rp 193.5 trillion.

“The prevalence of smoking children has decreased so that it is closer to the target in the RPJMN at 8.7. The workforce has the potential to decrease by 457-990 people,” said Sri Mulyani.
