The rumors were suddenly there. A German car containing Götze was spotted in Eindhoven. Not much later came the confirmation that the 28-year-old midfielder was indeed about to sign with PSV. Now the club has also announced it to the world.
“Thanks to our trainer, Mario has become interested in PSV. Ultimately, he has now become the great opportunity that we continue to hope for. We are very proud that he has chosen PSV”, said technical manager John de Jong.

Transfer free
Götze was transfer-free after his departure from Borussia Dortmund. For a moment, a return to FC Bayern Munich seemed in the making. Trainer Hansi Flick liked to see the little dribbler coming, but was whistled back from higher hand.
At PSV, Götze hopes to regain his old form after a number of bad years. Last season, the number 10 at Dortmund only played fifteen times in the Bundesliga, often as a substitute.
