Office 64 de Habitat celebrates its 70th anniversary by planting trees in a residence in Anglet

Seventy fruit trees have been planted at the Venice residence, in Anglet, by the Liken association from Pau, to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the Office 64 for habitat

Dominique, Olivier, Mathias and Claire gave the last blows of the mallet to drive in the last stakes of the young fruit trees that they had just planted, just as the meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Office 64 of the habitat. The social housing construction organization has chosen to celebrate its anniversary in this way. A similar demonstration had taken place a few days earlier in Lons, in Béarn.

Plantations and education

For these plantations, Office 64 called on the association Liken, from Pau, which is developing the Arboretoom program, planting microforests in urban and peri-urban areas associated with educational projects and raising awareness of the importance of trees and the ecosystems in which they are found, in the face of climate change issues.

As part of this anniversary, Liken planted seventy fruit trees and associated plants between the Sirius residence in Lons and the Venice and Saint-Marc residences, rue de Venise, in Anglet.

Chaired by Claude Olive, mayor of Anglet and first vice-president of the Departmental Council and headed by Thierry Montet, Office 64 is the continuation of the departmental office of HLM des Basses-Pyrénées (former name of Pyrénées-Atlantiques: NDLR ) created in 1951. The Pioche de Biarritz residence, built in 1955 and the Montbrun d’Anglet residence in 1957, were among his first achievements.

Claude Olive was inspired by the tree “strong symbol”, to celebrate the 70 years of Office 64. “Just like the tree, it grows, develops, is anchored in this magnificent territory of mountains and landscapes. ‘ocean. “

Supply and demand imbalance

The president of Office 64 has also championed social landlords “who are even more true today partners for the municipalities. Housing is a key issue. The evolution of society and families, the health crisis and the attractiveness of the territory are leading to a strong demand for housing. We know that we are facing an imbalance of supply and demand ”.

This time as mayor of Anglet, he continued by pointing out, without naming them, the associations which, like Alda, speak out against the frantic increase in property prices and the development of seasonal rentals. “We are tackling this issue head on,” he said. Nothing is useful to demonstrate, nothing is useful to be in the permanent dogma, nothing is useful to criticize to better divide, nothing is useful to invent rules which are not applicable, nothing is useful to throw stones at the promoters. It is simply necessary to do. “

For Jean-Jacques Lasserre, President of the Departmental Council, “There remains, collectively, great margins of progress to be made. To build housing, you need a collective and financial effort. We will, to our measure, boost housing and social welfare and make our contribution to the reconquest of town centers and town centers. “
