New wastebaskets and a fresh coat of paint for the lampposts – a project started a year ago to upgrade the pedestrian zone in Offenbach has been completed.
New entrance signs, new wastebasket and a fresh coat of paint for the lampposts – according to the city, a project to upgrade the pedestrian zone in Offenbach city center that started a good year ago has now been completed.
The “Sauberes Offenbach” staff unit, together with the “Better Living in Offenbach” project and other urban offices, had set itself the goal of tackling the dingy overall impression of the area. “During a joint inspection, the smeared, outdated entrance signs and wastepaper baskets caught our eye,” says the head of the staff unit, Christian Broos. There was also a need for renovation of the electrical boxes and street lamps, where the paint was already peeling off.
Modern wastebasket
The city service took over the exchange of the signs. The old wastebasket was replaced with a new, anthracite-colored model. According to the city, this does not become so dirty and has a smaller opening, which has the advantage that the containers can no longer be used to dispose of household waste. The street lights have been repainted to match the wastebasket.
Sabine Süßmann from the Besser Leben project in Offenbach took care of the redesign and replacement of the signs that are attached below the traffic signs to the pedestrian zone. The signs refer, among other things, to the Hesse-wide prevention campaign “Violence-See-Help” and the city’s website.
