Of the used cars registered in the first half of the year, 60% are older than 11 years

60% of used cars registered in Latvia in the first half of the year are older than 11 years, according to the information compiled by the Car Association.

In the first half of the year, a total of 18,566 used cars were registered. Of these, the majority, or 11,156 registered second-hand cars, are between the ages of 11 and 29, accounting for 60% of all six-month registrations. Another 122 registered are over 30 years old.

In addition, 17% or 3232 of all registered are eight to 10 years old, 12% or 2299 cars are five to seven years old, and 9% or 1709 are one to four years old. In the first half of the year, 48 used cars not older than one year were also registered.

The largest decrease in the registration of used cars was in April, when 1970 cars were registered, while the number of used cars registered in June increased to 3711.

Of all registered used cars, 85% run on diesel and 13% on petrol.

As reported, 18,566 used cars were registered in Latvia in the first half of this year, which is 27.4% less than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Among them, in the first half of 2020, the registration of used passenger cars decreased by 27.4%, amounting to 17,348 units, while the registration of used light commercial vehicles decreased by 27.7% – to 1,218 vehicles.
