Amazon and Global Optimism have announced, on December 9, that thirteen new signatories – Atos, Brooks, Canary Wharf Group, Coca Cola European Partners, ERM, Groupe SEB France, Harbour Air, ITV, Microsoft, Neste, Rubicon, Unilever y Vaude, have joined The Climate Pledge, the commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, a decade before the goal set by the Paris Agreement.

The signatories of The Climate Pledge agree:

  • Measure and report regularly on greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Implement decarbonization strategies, in line with the Paris Agreement, through real changes and innovation in their businesses, including improvements in their efficiency, the use of renewable energies, the reduction of materials and other strategies to eliminate their carbon emissions ;
  • Neutralize remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent and socially beneficial offsets to achieve emissions neutrality by 2040.

Last year, Amazon and Global Optimism co-founded The Climate Pledge to encourage companies to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement ten years earlier.
