Odenair is showing the film “Drii Winter” in Switzerland for the first time

14 films flicker across the screen at the Brugger Odeonair – including one that is being shown in Switzerland for the very first time

From July 15th to 30th, the Odeon cultural center will hold an open-air cinema in the inner courtyard for the fifth time. This year there is a limited number of places. That is the reason.

The Swiss film “Drii Winter” is playing on Thursday.

Sun, sun and more sun. The weather forecast for the weekend shows the best conditions for the Odeonair open-air cinema. The next round of the event at the Kulturhaus Odeon Brugg starts this Friday: a total of 14 films – including classics, discoveries, previews and hits from the current cinema season – will be flickering over the next two weeks on the big screen in the “Odeon” courtyard. In the event of bad weather, the screening will take place in the cinema hall.

It is already the fifth edition of the Odeonair. The two of them chose the program this year, explains operations manager Stephan Filati.

The film “Belfast” celebrated its premiere in 2021 and will be shown on Saturday at the Odeonair.

He and the deputy cinema director Olivia Groenke put together a repertoire of current films, film gems from the last 30 years and some older classics.

The principle behind the choice was suitability for an open-air performance: “Road movies, music films and films that play in nature are particularly well suited for performances in the open air.”

Personal highlight is the music film “The Broken Circle”

The Odeonair will be opened on Friday evening by the 99-minute strip “El buen patrón” (The good boss). This is about company manager Blanco, whose company manufactures industrial vehicles in a Spanish provincial town.

A commission is to visit the company and decide whether it will receive a local award for excellence – but fate throws obstacles in Blanco’s way. The open-air cinema will then show the film “Belfast” on Saturday and “Presque” on Sunday.

According to Stephan Filati, a special highlight of this year’s program is the Swiss film “Drii Winter”. This could be shown nationally for the very first time in Brugg. Filati says:

“So it’s the film’s Swiss premiere before it is shown at the Locarno Film Festival in August and before it hits Swiss cinemas in September.”

“Drii Winter” has already caused a sensation at the Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival. The film will be shown at the Odeonair next Thursday, before the screening there will be live music by Evelyn and Kristina Brunner.

Nevertheless, Filati names two other films as personal program highlights: “I’m really looking forward to the Belgian music film ‘The Broken Circle’ and our graduation film ‘Little Miss Sunshine’.”

80 deckchairs and 60 chairs are available for the public

When asked by the AZ, the “Odeon” did not disclose the exact figures for the tickets sold so far. However, advance sales are going very well so far, revealed Stephan Filati last Friday.

Little Miss Sunshine was released in 2006.

It is clear that this year – according to the Kulturhaus website – the number of places is very limited. 80 sun loungers and 60 chairs can be taken in front of the screen. The operations manager says:

“The limited number of spaces has to do with the construction site for the conversion of Neumarkt 2, which is still not complete.”

But the audience can look forward to innovations in technology: “This year we have a new, very bright projector in operation.” Excellent image and sound quality is therefore ensured.

Odeonair July 15th to 30th, from 9.45 p.m., inner courtyard of the culture center Odeon Brugg.
