Banjarnegara – The Astronomy Team from MAN 2 Banjarnegara observed a rare celestial phenomenon known as the “Blue Moon” on Wednesday (30/8) at the north building of MAN 2 Banjarnegara. This phenomenon is a rare event where there are two full moons in one calendar month.
A “blue moon” occurs when the 29.5 day synodic month does not align with the 30 or 31 day calendar month. This makes the full moon can occur twice in one calendar month. Although the term “Blue Moon” refers to this phenomenon, the actual color of the moon does not turn blue.
With great enthusiasm, the astronomy team consisting of talented students from class X, XI and XII prepared themselves to observe the amazing celestial events. With the help of sophisticated telescopes and other observational equipment, they managed to record the beautiful moment when a second full moon appeared in the night sky.
Ida Haerani, astronomy supervisor at MAN 2 Banjarnegara, said that this observation would give students the opportunity to learn more about astronomy and natural phenomena.
“This is also an important moment in developing their interest in science,” he said
“This activity is the first activity for new members from class X who join the Astronomy TEAM,” he continued
The students who are members of the astronomy team feel proud and happy to be able to observe this rare phenomenon. They hope that this experience will inspire them to continue to pursue knowledge about the vast universe, added Nur Rifai, a member of the MAN 2 Banjarnegara Astronomy Team.
The “Blue Moon” phenomenon observed by the MAN 2 Banjarnegara Astronomy Team is proof that interest in astronomy continues to live and develop among the younger generation. With this spirit, students are expected to continue exploring and researching the beauty and mysteries of the universe.
