Un Belgian out of a hundred have already used bariatric surgery to lose weight and this figure should only increase from year to year. In Belgium, 33.4% of adults are overweight and 16% are obese.
Interventions that lead to immediate and lasting weight loss provided that the patient manages to adapt his eating habits and his lifestyle.
The chances of success, when opting for surgery, are even greater if the operated persons are subject to medical, nutritional and psychological monitoring before the intervention and for at least two years after. Because the surgical procedure does not solve all the underlying problems.
