Oberpfalz – Regional Express runs over 16 sheep – Munich

Amberg – Piles of wool lie on the railroad tracks between Weigendorf and Etzelwang in the Amberg district. They are dead sheep.

On Saturday at 7:25 p.m. the herd grazed next to the railway line between Nuremberg and Weiden. They were actually standing in a fenced-in meadow. However, some had escaped from the fence and wandered onto the railway line unguarded.

At that moment the regional express raced towards Weiden at 100 kilometers per hour. The driver saw the sheep. He braked. Honk.

Too late. The locomotive caught 16 sheep. They were left dead on the route.

Nothing happened to the train. He drove to the next station in Neukirchen. The passengers also survived the collision unharmed. The owner of the sheep had to pick up the dead animals.
