The New York Department of the Treasury on Wednesday launched a statewide outreach campaign to ensure that all New Yorkers who meet the criteria can claim advance payments from the Child Tax Credit.
According to preliminary data from the IRS, New York estimates that 200,000 New Yorkers qualify for monthly payments, but have not registered, therefore, those families would be losing thousands of dollars in aid.
As part of the new campaign, the New York State Tax Department, the Office of Children and Family Services, the Department of Labor, and the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance will coordinate outreach efforts to reach New Yorkers. not registered and guide them to navigate the process.
“The increase in the child tax credit and monthly advance payments have been a lifesaver for families across the state, but many are still not taking advantage of this much-needed relief.
