Nvidia requires laptop manufacturers to list specs RTX 30 cards more extensively – Computer – News

Nvidia will oblige laptop manufacturers to post more detailed specifications of RTX 30 GPUs on their product pages. These include tgps and clockspeeds; in this way, customers should no longer be faced with surprises about performance.

Earlier, Nvidia stated to Tweakers, among others, that the company was ‘working on ways to give customers more insight’ in this area, but did not reveal exactly what that would mean at the time. Such a measure was necessary, as Nvidia has launched three RTX 30 cards for laptops, but those three cards actually 28 different configurations to have. For example, an RTX 3080 for laptops can vary in tgp from 80 to 150 Watt.

That has now become clearer: opposite The Verge notify the video card maker that laptop manufacturers are required to provide clock speeds and total graphics power on their product pages. This makes it easier for a customer to see how a GPU is expected to perform. This can vary because the speed is affected by the capacity of the laptop to power and cool the GPU under load.

The GPUs do not yet get the Max-Q designation that previous generations did get; this made it even easier to determine whether a GPU could still perform somewhat like its desktop counterpart or not. Nvidia does require the note of the specific Max-Q functions that the GPU has, such as Dynamic Boost 2.0, WhisperMode 2.0 and Resizable Bar. According to Nvidia, the reason Max-Q is no longer in the name of the GPU is because it no longer refers only to the tgp.

Before this news came out, came ASUS itself already over the bridge with specific figures and MSI revealed them in a YouTube video. Gigabyte has arrived also started working with it.
