NVIDIA is rumored to have told its partners that it will not release the GeForce RTX 3080 20GB and RTX 3070 16GB cards as planned, Videocardz reported. The information came from two independent sources.

Technically, the GeForce RTX 3080 20GB and RTX 3070 16GB could be released at a later date, but for now, it is reported that these SKUs have been canceled rather than carried over. NVIDIA has already canceled the RTX 3070 Ti (PG141 SKU 0) model, so the RTX 3070 16GB (PG141 SKU5) and RTX 3080 20GB (PG132 SKU20) will be added to the list.

The GeForce RTX 3080 20GB was expected to be the answer to the AMD Radeon RX 6900/6800 series with Navi 21 GPUs. All three AMD models will have 16GB of memory.

The official reason for the cancellation is unknown. One source claims the RTX 3080 20GB may have been scrapped due to low GDDR6X output issues. The reason for the cancellation of the RTX 3070 16GB is unknown (this SKU uses GDDR6 memory).

Plans for the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti remain unchanged. The release of PG190 SKU 10 is scheduled for mid-November. NVIDIA has yet to confirm an exact launch date.
