Nursing home in Vila Verde accused of defrauding the state in 163 thousand euros

The Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) accused five heads of a private social solidarity institution (IPSS) in Moure, Vila Verde, of tax fraud for allegedly including in the listings sent to Social Security false users of the nursing home.

In a note published today on its website, the District Attorney General of Porto said that the MP considered that, with that conduct, IPSS wrongly obtained 163,727.93 euros from Social Security, so it promoted that defendants be ordered to pay severally that value to the State.

IPSS is also accused in the process, for the same crime.

According to the indictment, the defendants are president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and technical director of IPSS, reporting the facts for the years between 2013 and 2017.

In the lists sent to Social Security, for the purpose of receiving benefits, the defendants will have included 17 people as users, “who, in reality, had never been”.

In addition, for 27 users, IPSS ‘social response frequency periods have been imputed “that had not occurred, either because they had not yet begun to benefit from the service provided by the institution, either because they no longer benefited from it, or because the services had not been provided ”.
