According to the Association of Universities (VSNU), there should be a hotline where endangered scientists can seek help. Increasingly, scientists who intervene in the public debate are faced with hate campaigns and even death threats. Some are now wary of public appearances. Others confront: „Sometimes I call the threateners. Then they are startled, or they continue to scold.”
