After living a critical month due to the expansion of the coronavirus, in Barranquilla and Atlántico, a decrease in the numbers of fatalities and infections and an increase in the numbers of recoveries began to be registered.

The manager of the crisis of the District’s COVID-19, Juan Manuel Alvarado, assured that the indicators reveal that 70.5% of those infected are recovered, which is equivalent to about 20,000 people who have overcome this disease.

The report shared with the public also shows that 23.4% of patients are recovering at home, 0.7% are hospitalized, 0.2% in intensive care units (ICU) and 5.1% of infected have passed away. In total, 131,744 tests have been carried out.

According to the report presented by the Mayor’s Office, the neighborhoods with the most active cases are: Ciudadela 20 de Julio, El Bosque, El Recreo, Carrizal, Rebolo, La Victoria, San Roque, San Isidro, La Luz, El Carmen, La Concepción and 7 of April.

The neighborhoods with the most deaths are: El Bosque, Ciudadela 20 de Julio, Rebolo, La Luz, La Unión, Corregimiento La Playa, La Ceiba, Santa María, Las Américas, La Sierrita, San José and La Chinita.

The crisis manager pointed out that positivity – which is the number of positive tests for the total number of samples taken – continues to decline and “the indicator is fairly stable” over time.

In addition, he said that the date of onset of symptoms manifested by people who had coronavirus also continues to decline and that this decline has been stable for two weeks.

Alvarado assured that the sources of contagion that they had identified have begun to decrease; however, new ones have been generated in other areas of the city, which they are already controlling with the installation of sanitary fences.
