Morocco reported 175 new cases of coronavirus infection on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12,052, the kingdom’s health ministry said.
The number of deaths from coronavirus is 221 (1.8%), while that of those declared cured rose to 8,740 (72.5%), said an official of the ministry in her daily statement of hurry.
New cases were reported in the regions of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (54 cases), Marrakech-Safi (19 cases), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (12 cases), Fès-Meknès (13 cases), Casablanca-Settat (25 cases), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (44 cases), Guelmim-Oued Noun (4 cases), l’Oriental (2 cases), Béni-Mellal-Khénifra (1 case) and Souss-Massa (1 case), according to the same source, stressing that there are 3,091 active cases at the national level, including 17 serious or critical cases.
The ministry invites the citizens to wear protective masks, to respect the rules of hygiene and sanitary safety as well as the preventive measures taken by the Moroccan authorities by showing responsibility and patriotism.
Morocco has taken a series of drastic measures to stop the spread of the virus, including a state of health emergency declared on March 20 and extended until July 10.
