Number of corona infections among visitors to camping Appelhof (Terschelling) is rising | Inland

Earlier on Wednesday, the GGD reported that two youngsters from Noord-Holland had tested positive after returning home. It could be that they got infected on the campsite, but it could also be that they were already sick and infected others on the campsite. That is why the Frisian GGD called on young people who were at the campsite last week to be tested if they have mild complaints.

The regional health service provides more testing options on the Wadden Island. A test center will be built in a church in the village of Midsland. This is intended for young people of camping Appelhof. They can go there without an appointment. People from Terschelling and other tourists with complaints can also go to church for a corona test.

Vulnerable

The GGD does not think that the young people camping on Terschelling have had contact with the elderly or vulnerable “or that they have mixed intensively in other groups outside the vicinity of the Appelhof.”

The owner of Appelhof, Geert van Dieren, tells the Leeuwarder Courant that the campsite will close its doors for the rest of the summer. The season would last until September 1, but will end two weeks earlier. About eight hundred guests at the campsite go home. Three hundred new guests would come to the campsite on Monday, but they are no longer welcome.

The corona virus has largely passed over Terschelling so far. Since the outbreak began, two islanders have tested positive. No one had to be hospitalized and no one died of the virus.
