Number of corona cases further increased: 6,577 new infections | Inland

The number of deaths from corona increased by 39 in the last 24 hours. This does not mean that all these people died in the last 24 hours, it may take some time between a death and the registration. The RIVM reported the death of 58 corona patients on Friday.

In the past week, nearly 37,300 people were infected, more than 3,000 fewer than the week before.

Since the outbreak started this spring, 9,662 people have been infected and died of corona. In that period more than 550,000 people in the Netherlands were tested positive.

The Utrecht region had the most positive tests in the past 24 hours, a total of 634. RIVM recorded 526 new cases in Central and West Brabant, followed by the Haaglanden region (436). Relatively many new infections were also found in Amsterdam-Amstelland (433) and Brabant-Noord (423).

Hospital figures

The number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals fell slightly on Saturday. In total, the hospitals now treat 1,602 corona patients. That is 23 fewer than Friday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

Of the patients admitted with Covid-19, 472 are in intensive care units, one less than the previous day. The number of corona patients in the nursing wards decreased by 22 to 1130.

Due to the continuing crowds, 12 patients were transferred to hospitals in other regions in the past 24 hours, including one IC patient.
