The number of patients who end up in the emergency department of Leuven hospitals with alcohol intoxication has increased by no less than 50 percent in 12 years. This is apparent from a study by UZ Leuven and the Heilig Hart Hospital in Leuven. Striking: it is mainly people between 40 and 60 years old who end up in the emergency room with an alcohol poisoning, followed by drunk teenagers and students.
