Novel Considers Humiliation of KPK Employees Offered to Enter BUMN

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Corruption Eradication Commission employee (NCP) non-active, Novel Baswedan, assessed that the way the KPK asked a number of employees to resign and join the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) was a form of humiliation. He said some of his colleagues had already received the treatment.

“Several friends were contacted by KPK people who are believed to have the knowledge of the KPK leadership were asked to sign two letters, namely a request to resign and a request to be channeled to BUMN. For us it is an insult,” said Novel in a written statement, Tuesday (14 /9).

Novel emphasized that his party was at the KPK not just to make money, but to fight to eradicate corruption. He added that the KPK’s steps are increasingly showing a systematic effort to kill corruption eradication.

“This further illustrates the existence of a large power that wants to control the KPK for an interest that is not in the interest of eradicating corruption,” said Novel.

Previously, one of the sources CNNIndonesia.com who is an employee who did not pass the National Insight Test (TWK) admitted that he had been approached by the Deputy of Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK, Pahala Nainggolan, to enter BUMN.

However, he was given a condition to sign a letter of resignation and a willingness to be distributed to SOEs.

“I was called by the Deputy for Prevention, if you want it will be distributed to BUMN,” said the source, Monday (13/9).

So far, there has been no official statement from the anti-corruption agency – including Pahala Nainggolan – to respond to this growing issue. Confirmation message CNNIndonesia.com to a number of structural officials and KPK leaders have not received a response.

The 57 KPK employees who are declared ineligible to become State Civil Apparatus (ASN) through TWK will be dismissed on November 1, 2021.

Meanwhile, Komnas HAM concluded that there were 11 human rights violations that occurred in the process of changing the status of KPK employees to ASN in terms of policy, treatment, and speech.

In addition to Komnas HAM, the Ombudsman had previously announced findings of maladministration in the process of deactivating 75 employees, including TWK KPK. However, on the findings of the Ombudsman, both the KPK and the BKN have raised objections.
