First, Novel admitted that he was asked about his agreement with the government policy regarding the increase in the basic electricity tariff (TDL)?

“My answer at that time was more or less like this, ‘I feel that I am not an expert in politics and economics, and of course because I am an investigator of corruption, I am more interested in seeing the many allegations of corrupt practices in the management of state electricity, and inefficiencies that are a burden to electricity rates’, “explained Novel.

The second question posed to Novel was, ‘if you became a civil servant, then served as an investigator, what would your attitude be when the case was intervened, such as being prohibited from calling certain witnesses and so on?’

Novel admitted that he answered “in carrying out an investigation, it should not be hindered or hindered because the act is a crime as referred to in Article 21 of the Corruption Crime Law. Meanwhile, as a civil servant, I am certainly bound by the provisions of Article 108 Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which is that civil servants perform their duties knowing that there is a suspected criminal act, it is mandatory to report. So, my response will follow the law order, namely to report if someone intervenes’.
